Independence Day!

Emily played me this song a few years ago, and I absolutely love it!

Enjoy.

What are you doing to be patriotic?

I am wearing the denim shirt I found in my Mom's closet of old clothes.

I am going to the BEACH to play with the little and big cousins!

I am going to watch HUGE fireworks with friends!!

I may light a sparkler or two.

Have a wonderful Independence Day today!

How blessed we are to live in such a wonderful country.

Question:

Is this really possible?  And how successful is this?

Answer: YES.

moments that matter most

This is so well done.  I love how our church can portray a prophet's words with beautiful effects that really enhance the message.

secret crush / winner of the G7 Golden Globes

On Friday we had our ward film festival.

The audience voted on the best film, and this is what they picked!

Aaron Hatch is one talented fellow.  I've had this song stuck in my head {in a good way, I absolutely love it!} ever since Friday!

videographer - march wedding

I was 2nd Camera for this awesome wedding in LA.
My friend Lars was kind enough to teach me a few tricks with his fun equipment.
Check out his other work!

Here is a preview he edited of their wedding day:

I love filming weddings!
It was really fun to see the bride getting ready, looking nervous/anxiously excited in front of the mirror, smiling, slightly shaking, greeting her female friends as they entered the dressing room.
You could feel the excitement in the air.

I also loved hearing the toasts at the reception.  The groom's buddies were funny, and you could just see so much love and camaraderie through their years of friendship as they watched their friend start a new life with his new best friend, his bride. They are such a handsome couple!  Don't you love the way she danced so properly?  She is such a lady.

The reception was held at Lawry's!  Prime rib baby!

The guests also became more entertaining as more alcohol was consumed.

Hmm, I was going to end there, but let's not.

This was one of my first times where I handed off what I filmed for someone else to edit.
It felt incredibly refreshing to be honest.  All I had to do was wait and see what was to come of it after having fun for a few hours with a nice camera!
I do enjoy editing my own work, but this was refreshing to see someone else's style combined with all the great things they shot.  Good work Lars!

today's dose of daily affirmation

I have a new part time job at an acting studios in La Crescenta. It's been a little overwhelming learning all of the details, but thankfully the girl who is training me is incredibly thorough and positive.  We were talking about this video last night, and I feel it's the perfect fit for my need for some motivation right now!

You wait, little girl, on an empty stage for fate to turn the light on

Recently I had this HUGE desire to watch The Sound of Music.  That was a new thing for me, because I hadn't watched it in many years, and it was mostly for the funny goatherd song and the DO RE MI on their bikes. We only have it on VHS, and it's no where to be found on TV, so I resulted to watching the songs on movieclips.com as many times as I felt necessary.

I have a thing for gazebos, dancing in the rain, and yes, I will finally admit, pink dresses.

Joseph Smith: Prophet of the Restoration

Did you know that you can watch the film about Joseph Smith online, right now?

It was originally only presented at the theatre in Temple Square and in temples' visitors' centers, but today you can watch it from your own computer!

From the church website:

"The original 2005 version depicts events in the life of Joseph Smith that help explain the Church's belief in modern prophets and Joseph Smith's role in restoring the Church of Jesus Christ to the earth.
The new version stays true to that original purpose but uses reedited footage from the original film as well as some new footage to create a product that is more understandable for the wider Internet audience. About 40 percent of the film is new material.
The revised Joseph Smith: The Prophet of the Restoration is available online at mormonchannel.org/Joseph"

Some of you may know that I took several editing classes from the editors of this film, and worked under them at the Church's Motion Picture Studio in Provo. As a final project for my Advanced Avid Class, we were asked to cut our own "trailers" for this film.  It was a really great experience to watch the film a handful of times and feel the Spirit every time I worked on it.

I hope you get a chance to watch the new version!

need motivation? / nike

"My Best Enemy"

this is just plain funny

a great homage to OK Go's treadmill music video

What motivates me to run?

1. Gorgeous sights {Golden hour at the Rose Bowl or midday at the beach}
2. I love feeling sore and beat after a long run!
3. My Nike+ . I think I am going to try out the speed feature today. The distance feature doesn't choose your music speed, and I'm thinking I need to mix things up a bit.
4. I just found out today that I am six pounds away from what I weighed in high school. There were days in college when I thought I'd never see a size 8 jeans again. Now size 6 seems so much closer!

What motivates you to run/be active?
